The 2015 Great Allentown Brew Works Cask Beer Festival

If you’re looking for a beer festival with a special twist, be sure to clear your calendars on Saturday, March 14. The Great Allentown Brew Works Cask Beer Festival returns to delight beer lovers of all types

Unlike some of the other festivals in our region, you won’t be tasting beers that can be found on the shelves. These beers are exclusive, one-of-a-kinds blends that won’t be available again. Over 15 breweries will be offering cask selections that are sure to delight.

But just what is cask beer? Traditionally, cask beers are naturally carbonated by yeast being added during a second fermentation rather than adding CO2. Casks can be gravity drawn typically from barrels laying horizontally, or from typical looking ”kegs” that have been naturally carbonated. Cask beer is sometimes referred to as ‘real ale.’
